What time of the day is best for our photo session?
~Honestly the best time of day for photographing an outdoor session is an hour or so after the sunrise...and an hour or so before the sun sets - these are considered "the golden hours", however that being stated sometimes those hours aren't best for you and your children...so we can schedule your session during the time that works best for both of us.
What should we wear?
~ I get asked this question A LOT...my best answer if to wear what's most comfortable for you...I do not recommend wearing all white, crazy patterns, super matchy or logos. I would recommend wearing neutral or bold colors that complement each other. If you are doing a family session, I would choose the mother's outfit first and then choose the children to coordinate. Or choose one item- maybe your daughter's dress or your son's shirt that has a lot of patterns and pick a few colors out of that to dress everyone else. Keep in mind that you will be outdoors and most likely sit on the ground for a shot too.
How long will my session last?
~ That will depend on what type of session you have chosen. Family and Maternity session can last up to 1-1.5 hours...my Mini Sessions are 30-45 minutes long...and Newborn Sessions can last up to 3 hours.
Where will my session take place?
~We will choose the location of your session together. I have done sessions at the home or in local parks. Some beautiful local spots that I enjoy shooting at are Ridley Creek State Park, Goose Creek Park, Oakborne Park, Everhardt Park and Okehocking Preserve. I am always willing to try new locations. I will travel up to 30 minutes from West Chester (locations further than 30 minutes are an additional $50 & locations over an hour are $100).
~ For the NEWBORN SESSIONS they always take place in my studio located in West Chester, PA.
Do you offer Beach Sessions?
~ I do! I offer beach sessions throughout the summer. They are very limited. I am able to do beach sessions at the South Jersey Shores; Ocean City, Avalon, Stone Harbor and Sea Isle City. Other shore towns will incur a travel fee. I am based in Ocean City, NJ for summer beach sessions. Extended family sessions are possible too!
What should I bring to my session?
~ That's up to you! If you wanted to bring something special for your child's milestone session, please contact me and we can discuss as I have a lot of props in my studio! Outdoor sessions you really just need to bring yourselves!
~ For the NEWBORN SESSIONS everything you will need is included and supplied by me for your session (backdrops, props, hats, headbands, etc.) However, if you wish to add something special to your baby's shoot that would be most welcome!
Will you edit blemishes, wrinkles, hair, cuts, etc. from the photos?
~ All of the images that you will receive in your final gallery will be edited. I take great pride in my editing...I will surely edit out scrapes, bruises, blemishes...anything that is not original to your body. I also will often "soften" faces, but I NEVER, EVER edit people to look fake or wrinkle free. That is not my style. Extensive editing must be discussed and will incur an additional fee.
Hair-- please note that if it is windy I cannot control your hair. I would recommend pulling it back. For women and little girls this sometimes becomes an issue especially for outdoor and beach sessions. Please note that I will do my best during your session to notice your hair, but you also need to make sure its secure.
I will charge an additional editing fee for over 2 images that you want extensive editing on.
As for newborn editing...it is the same. I will NOT make your newborn look plastic or fake. Again, that's not my style. Sometimes newborns have little blemishes or flaky skin...I will edit out the little pimples and help to soften some flakiness, but please remember that that's how your newborn looks now...and will never look like that again...newborn photography is meant to capture the first days of your new baby...because they change so quickly...it's special to remember them exactly like they were...so fresh, so new...so perfect!
When will we receive our images?
~ About 3 -4 weeks after your session you will receive an online password-protected image gallery. ALL of the images will be edited. You will choose from the gallery the images you want in your downloadable gallery (if you have had a "Mini Session")..or if you've had a full session or a newborn session then all your images will be instantly downloadable.
Do you offer prints or print packages too?
You can order prints directly through your gallery. My session fees INCLUDE your digital images, so they are yours forever...and ever. There are no additional print fee requirements! You have the choice to get them printed on your own or through my website. I will give you direction as to the best places locally or online to have them printed to the best quality. I currently ONLY recommend www.mpix.com.
How far will you travel?
~ I will travel up to 30 mins from my home...if your location is further, I will need to add an additional $50 to your session fee...if further than 1 hour it will be an additional $100.
